TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMITS

Temporary Immigration is an important type of Immigration to Canada

. Each year it allows thousand of people to visit, study, or work in Canada. All foreign nationals must apply for and obtain a visa before appearing at Port of Entry.

  • Temporary Resident:
    A foreign national who is in Canada legally for a short period. Temporary residents include students, foreign workers and visitors, such as tourists.

  • This could be the case if you do not need a visa but just an eTA. Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. It will allow Canada to screen travellers before they arrive. The authorization is electronically linked to your passport and is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. click here to know more.

General TRV Application Requirements
A formal written application required.


STEPS

  • Application in writing prior to arrival or apply for eTA OR oral application at POE
  • Visa officer assessment (abroad) OR CBSA officer examination (POE)
  • TRV issued for limited and temporary period OR visitor record/stamp in passport, admission granted for 6 months
  • Admitted as a temporary resident (may include conditions) for limited and temporary period
  • Foreign national must comply with conditions of visa and leave before or by authorized period of stay

 

Application documents:

  • A completed application package
  • A valid passport
  • Recent passport size photos
  • Proof of custody or a letter of consent from custodial patients if child under 16 and is without proper identification, or is not with parents
  • Proof of current immigration status if FOREIGN NATIONAL is not a citizen of the country in which she is applying
  • Proof of ability to cover expenses.

  • Specific document: letter of invitation

You usually do not need a medical exam.
